SAIC Completes Acquisition of Icon Systems, Inc.

SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va., April 21, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Icon Systems, Inc. (Icon) a recognized leader in the design, development and production of state-of-the- art laser-based systems and products for military training and testing.

Icon Systems has a fifteen year history of product development and production.

• Produced more than 3000 Basic MILES Torso Detection Systems
• Produced and delivered more than 2,000 MILES-Based Independent Target Systems (ITS) at

  rates up to 250 kits per month
• Produced 1500 new-technology wireless versions of the ITS kits utilizing a robust ISM network to link detectors, laser transmitters

  and user interfaces in an exceptional new configuration which frees both the soldier and vehicle from cables and wires.
• Created peripheral devices for interface to the pyrotechnic-based DIFCUE for Battlefield Effects
• Produced and delivered over 800 MK-19 Laser-based Simulation Player Unit (SPU) kits to date
• Produced & delivered over 15,000 Man-worn Laser Detection Helmet “Halo” assemblies at rates of up to 2,000 per month
• Delivered more than 2000 MILES-based Vehicle Detection systems for use at the Army National Training Center at Fort Irwin,

  Colorado
• Produced, tested and delivered more than 1,600 Universal Detection Systems (UDS) kits and spare parts in less than a 5 month 

  period in a total program duration of less than 10 months resulting in the award of SBA’s “Administrator’s Award of Excellence” for

  the effort


Icon Systems Future Product Development
Icon Systems is presently completing instrumentation, laser transmitters, detectors and advanced embedded controllers for application in the test and training communities for for the Army OneTESS, OT-TES and CVS programs. We are ushering in a new generation of products to accommodate future tactical engagement simulation systems involving MOUT training, along with live, virtual and constructive interplay involving terrain mapping, geo-bearing NLOS engagements, Real Time Casualty Assessment and accommodation of an ever increasing array of products to enhance engagement simulations.
