SAIC Completes Acquisition of Icon Systems, Inc. SAN DIEGO and MCLEAN, Va., April 21, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Icon Systems, Inc. (Icon) a recognized leader in the design, development and production of state-of-the- art laser-based systems and products for military training and testing.
Icon Systems ExperienceIcon brings to this important program years of experience in tactical engagement simulation that is directly related to Dismount Troop and Ground Vehicle player unit development. We have developed and fielded units for the National Training Center, the Combat Maneuver Training Center, and the Battle Laboratory at Ft Benning. Components included on these delivered units include wired and wireless detector modules, operator modules, vehicle display devices, and power modules. All of our player units use aggressive power management routines to conserve battery life.
Icon specializes in training system product conceptualization, design, development, and production, primarily related to laser-based tactical training systems. The Icon staff holds seven patents with an additional two patents pending related to Laser Engagement Systems.
